Storm surge from Tropical Storm Josephine

On October 7 and 8, 1996, the Tampa Bay area experienced a substantial storm surge associated with the passage of Tropical Storm Josephine. The actual vs. predicted water levels at the PORTS St. Petersburg station and the winds from the PORTS CCUT station are depicted in the following figure for the 48-hr period centered around the storm surge.

The actual water level at the PORTS Old Port Tampa station, the predicted water level at Hillsborough Bay, and the winds from the PORTS CCUT station are depicted in the following figure for the 48-hr period centered around the storm surge. Please note that the PORTS Old Port Tampa station did not collect any data for the first 10 hours of October 7, 1996. This period of time is included in the figure, however, to allow comparison with the figure from the PORTS St. Petersburg station.
